The lovely people at over at MyChelle must've been reading my deliberating mind one day and reached out to me, offering a couple of products to try for both my mum and I, one of which being the Apple Brightening Peel I'll be sharing my thoughts about today.
The Apple Brightening Peel* is essentially a 5 minute face mask aimed at those with the issue of age/dark spots from sun damage and UV-induced discolouration. I personally am not too sure whether I have age spots yet.. especially because I'm still quite young and have always been a sun-dodger. However, on my mum's side of the family, a couple of them have a skin condition, I think - whereby a range of faint and dark spots appear naturally. I'm not too sure about this "condition" and haven't been to see a dermatologist yet, but I'm pretty sure I've inherited it from my mum as I'm starting to see signs of it. My mum on the other hand, has never understood the concept of protective sun screen, now being in her late 40's she certainly claims that there's no point to start reversing the bad habit.
We have both been trialling the Apple Brightening Peel for a couple of weeks now, and it seems that my mum's been receiving slightly better results than I have - possibly because her discolouration is greater therefore being more noticeable at a glance compared to previously. Unfortunately she doesn't want to share her face on the internet otherwise I would have posted before/after photographs of the spots.
On myself, I haven't experienced any lightening/decrease in the first signs of discolouration on my skin, but immediately after using the Apple Brightening Peel I get a visible brightening effect which lasts for around an hour. The brighter look to my face isn't glowy, but more so of a natural "lit from within" appearance.
The Apple Brightening Peel is definitely a product I have been looking forward to using on my bi-weekly mini facial pamper sessions; the aspect I like most about it is the light, fragrant scent of fresh apples this has, with the strange, smooth apple-purée texture gliding across my skin coming at a close second. This mask becomes slightly sticky, but not clumpy on the skin when applied and is build-able. Out of all the other face masks I have used in the past, this is the only one that I really enjoy the application of, and it just feels really nice to smooth over a generous layer onto my skin.
From the streamlined 35ml squeezy tube we have here, I would reckon that a good 6/7 uses could be made, meaning that it would be around £3 per use, which isn't overly expensive for a face mask that provides immediate visible benefits. I'm not sure just yet as to whether this will be a potential life-saviour for my skin, but at the moment I have been really enjoying the company of the Apple Brightening Peel and I will most definitely purchase when it runs out.
